I got the call today..my generator was in. It has only been a few days without one but man I was ready for it. It is a Chinese made (bummer) digital inverter generator good for 2000 watts. It cost me $550 cash out the door, half the cost of a Honda but...it's not a Honda.
After unpacking the first thing that surprised me was the size. Quite a bit bigger and heavier the the Honda EU2000. This one comes with a battery inside for the electric start feature, my wife likes that though she's not too keen on the weight. We have decided to get a cargo rack that fits on the trailer hitch, then we can keep it secured in place rather then lugging it back insde each night.
I made my way through the Chinese English instructions, always good for a laugh, put in oil and gas and fired her up. Voila! We have power again. It runs really quiet, quite impressive.
After thirty minutes the internal battery
was charged so I turned it off and tried the key-start. Great. No more pulling on ropes to start it.
My wife made a pot roast and we could see to eat it. And now she is flat ironing her hair. I think she missed the power more than me.
When she's happy I'm happy.
We had a busy schedule today, the RV needed smogging (two years already?), shopping, checking gold ring values, banking and some of the things on the honey do list.
I did not have time to TH. Yesterday I went to another beach, one that I had not been to and I think not too many other TH'ers have been to either.
It was a little late in the day but the stretch I hunted held a lot of targets. Most of these were iron nails and such but I also found quite a bit of clad and one small silver ring. I shall be going back to this beach again tomorrow.
I like finding rings even if they are not gold or silver. It shows that the area has potential for more.
