My Generator Died!

It had to happen sooner or later, but there is never a good time. We bought the Honda EU2000 from a friend at least two years ago. It was well used then, but it was a great bargain for $300. Before that we were buying the cheap Chinese noise makers that would last 4 to 6 months.
I tried telling the wife that a generator should really only be used to charge the batteries then turned off, that way we would not use as much gas and we would not have to keep buying them, but it is just too easy, and nice, to leave it running and have the whole RV powered up, especially with the Honda, as it ran so quiet.
I think it's dead Jim!
So it was back to charging batteries using the taxi and jumper cables, using propane to run the fridge and not vacuuming the carpet.
Not a real problem, just none to convenient.
Next day I find the outside vent cover has gone missing and despite  driving all around the streets we had taken the day before, it could not be found.
Another project! I made a cover out of plywood and attached it with screws. I figured I could paint it later and it would not look bad.
When we pulled into our overnight boondock that evening we were greeted by one of the homeless guys that live under the bridge by the river. And what did he have in his hand? My vent cover! It must have fallen off while we were parked the night before and he found it in the morning.
I was elated and gave him a well earned tip. I've known him for about sixteen years but never really talked to him as he is very shy and keeps himself to himself. It has been  rainy lately so he has taken to sleeping by the back of the gas station.
So now we are going to buy yet another generator but this time it will be used sparingly. I put a deposit down on one today and it should be in on Wednesday.
So, to offset the cost of this I sent a few rings off to the smelters in Michigan and then hit the beach to find more. Today I got a nice ring but it is silver, not worth much even thought it weighed 10.4 g.
It has been great on the sand though; no people and foggy weather. Perfect for TH'ing

Tomorrow I have to smog the RV and pay the registration so I am going to have to really hit the beaches to get those rings!!
